Cook has always been interested in architecture and really likes the houses designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
Scottsdale, near Phoenix, is the location of Frank Lloyd Wright's winter home - Taliesin West.
There are several tours offered of the property - 1 hr, 1.5 hrs or 3 hrs. We opted for the 1.5 hour one which was a good choice I think because you get to see the "living room" which is not part of the shorter tour. The tour is interesting and goes at a fair pace. The buildings that the tour covers are fairly spacious and allow you to sit. Those things combined prevent the problems of other tours where everyone is squeezed into small rooms and just stand around and fidget!
As for the buildings themselves, they are pretty impressive. Even if you are not a fan of this style of architecture, Taliesin West is still worth a visit. However, if you don't think that you could put up with someone praising Frank Lloyd Wright for a whole hour, then maybe you should avoid the place! |
